NARA's Mission Statement
1. What are the opportunities or needs that we exist to address?
- The purpose of our organization is to raise awareness of the Native Americans.
2. What are we doing to address these needs?
-
We are going to put up signs around the school and town telling
students and any citizens of Viroqua about Columbus Day and how that’s
the day we should recognize the Native Americans. The week that
Columbus Day resides on will be the week of recognition, and we’ll hold a
mini powwow/rendezvous in the gym or on the football field with
week-long activities that the people in that culture take part in and
encourage our students and neighbors and family members to participate
and listen to their stories and whatnot.
3. What principles or beliefs guide our work?
-
The students won’t be charged any kind of fee to participate, so
there’ll be no money involved. We’re just trying to recognize Native
Americans and help them be more understood by the students in our school
today.
